Where to Report What
You were told what happened to you wasn’t real. It was. Here is who to tell, how to tell them, and what to bring — so your experience can stand on the record.
Before you report
- Safety first. If someone may monitor your phone or browser, use a device they can’t access or contact an advocate. Quick exit leaves this page; it does not erase browsing history or stop device monitoring.
- Document safely. Keep dates, times, screenshots with URLs and usernames, photos, records, texts and emails. Preserve originals and store copies somewhere private. Do not download, forward or create copies of sexual images of a child.
- Bring a witness. When safe and permitted, take a trusted person to meetings and appointments and ask them to keep dated notes.
- Check before recording. Consent rules depend on the state, the type of conversation and the circumstances, especially across state lines. Check current law or ask a qualified attorney before recording; a facility’s rules may also apply.
- Mind the deadlines. Some complaints have filing windows as short as 30 days. Identify the right agency and filing process promptly. A general report or internal grievance may not preserve an outside filing deadline.
- Follow up in writing when safe. Recap calls, ask for a case number and the name of whoever took your report, and keep a copy.
- Ask for an advocate. Hotlines, legal aid and Protection & Advocacy agencies may help you choose where to report.

Help should never harm.
I can’t personally vouch for every organization on this page, and local offices of the same agency can be very different from one another. Some places that promise help have failed or hurt the people who came to them, and I know that firsthand.
If a listing here harmed you, put you at risk or dismissed you, please tell me which organization and office, roughly when, and what happened. Share only what feels safe to share. Concerns are reviewed weekly; this is not an emergency reporting channel.
I don’t just take a listing down. I look into every concern and do my due diligence. If what you share holds up, I remove that organization from this page and report it to the appropriate oversight body. And if you want to go further, we can talk through your options together. Depending on what happened and what you want, that might mean reporting to the authorities or taking other steps so they can’t harm anyone else. You decide what happens with your story.
Trust your instincts too: you can ask for a different advocate, leave, or call another line. Nobody is owed your silence.
Send a concern to KierOn the Book page, choose “General Contact.” Don’t include details that could be dangerous if someone saw your device.
This directory is U.S.-focused and compiled October 2026. Phone numbers, portals, eligibility and deadlines change. Confirm on the agency’s own site before relying on a listing; inclusion is not an endorsement or a guarantee of confidentiality.
The Haus of Kier is an educational and strategic platform, not a law firm, clinic or crisis service. Nothing here is legal or medical advice. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
